Parent and Child Class Teacher 2012-13
The Parent and Toddler Program Teacher leads a group of children (ages 12-36 months) and their parents in age appropriate activities based upon the Waldorf Early Childhood Development model. The Parent Toddler teacher provides support, resources, and direct experience to the parents enrolled that enable them to learn about Waldorf education and the Steiner-based child development model. Activities include handwork, free play, songs and ring games, a shared snack, and outdoor time. The Parent Toddler teacher should create an environment that fosters social relationships within the class and the opportunity for discussion and sharing of information about parenting and education among the parents.
This position begins in the Fall of 2012. However, training and class observations will commence immediately upon hire.
Salary and Benefit Information:
This position pays at a rate of $35-$50 per session depending upon experience and an hourly meeting rate of $14. Sessions will be held each Wednesday from 9:00am to 11:00am for three terms during the year. The Fall and Winter terms are twelve weeks long and the Spring term is six weeks long. There is one parent evening per term. This position has no benefits.
Qualifications:
- Waldorf teaching certificate and/or teaching experience in Waldorf Early Childhood programs
- Demonstrated ability to work with parents of young children
- Demonstrated ability to work in a group and collaborative skills
- Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skill
- 18 years or older
- Current CPR/First Aid training for children and adults
- Valid TB test
- Bloodborne pathogens training
- Able to climb stairs
- Able to lift 50lbs
